(Photo by Sawat Ketngam)SA KAEO - Local livestock authorities have already controlled a buffalo outbreak after identifying the disease as haemorrhagic septicemia, a key economic disease among cattle. Infected animals suffer elevated temperature, swollen areas in heads and necks, respiratory difficulty and sudden death. The outbreak was also reported in Kabin Buri district in the adjacent Prachin Buri province last Friday. Since Nov 4, at least 81 cattle, mainly buffaloes, were reported dead in Sa Kaeo before spreading to Prachin Buri where 20 animals have died.
